Black Velvet, if you please…
Velvet is making a comeback just in time for winter.
My mom recently passed down this gorgeous floor length velvet skirt… could be rather Addams Family inspired if you like haha but it makes me feel pretty sultry.
So here’s the million dollar question : Should I alter the skirt or keep it the way it is? Vintage versus Alterations, you help me decide :)
It is quite form fitting and high waisted, which is a plus- with a hidden side zip for snug fit.
“Black velvet and that little boy’s smile
Black velvet with that slow southern style
A new religion that’ll bring ya to your knees
Black velvet if you please”
Jeffrey Campbell launches at The Lot
So I think I might be inlove again… Jeffrey Campbell has finally launched at The Lot and I cannot stop looking at these babies!
The black lace ups are my favourite although my “conservative” boyfriend tends to disagree on their level of hotness.
Definitely, without a doubt “ONE HELL OF A LINE UP”
For those sirens I suggest the Lita Spike
Check them out at The Lot <3
Holi One Cape Town 2013
The guys at Seed Experience brought us another awesome festival… The first Holi One Colour Festival was held on the 2nd of March and guys it was EPIC!
Music brings the masses together and this event definitely had a more meaningful purpose than just your regular party. Holi is an occasion meant to bring on feelings of unadulterated mirth and joy, and it’s a time during which mischievous behaviour is not only condoned, but encouraged.
The 2 hour wait in the long line was worth it! Check the pics out ;)
Don’t worry its non toxic :)
Look at our beautiful city! Table Mountain was the perfect back drop for Holi One!
As night fell, the beats kicked in. Goodluck made the crowd go crazy with Matthew Moolman joining the Duo to sing “taking it easy” live .
Feeling dirty? How about a free hug!
Niskerone closed off the night with a mind blowing set. Holi One Colour Festival was an event I will never forget and I am sure all those who attended will agree with me.
Thank you Cape Town and Thank you Seed Experience. We came in white and all left coloured and one.

Garnier Blemish Balm Cream :Review
There has been a massive hype around the use of BB creams and I finally decided to try it out.
Garnier BB Cream is a miracle skin perfector and claims instant results in one application… unbelievable ?
It evens your tone, hydrates, protects, renews and brightens! Keep in mind it is NOT a full on concealer, consider it as light coverage.
I got mine in medium and must say it blended well into my skin, no obviously tell tale colour lines. It’s quick and easy to use with your fingers and requires no skill! A plus for girls on the go or those who are not make up fundi’s.
Only negative thing I have to say is that it definitely melts in the african sun and will stain your clothing , luckily it is easily removed by washing powder:).
Garniers BB cream has become and everyday addition to my morning routine and I love the instant glow you have once applied. It’s cost effective at R80 and lasts for more than a two months!
My 23rd Birthday <3
I recently celebrated my 23rd birthday at Alba Lounge V&A Waterfront. Beautiful views of the harbour and great service. Thanks for joining me :)
Thanks for all the love guys, had so much fun!
David Tlale Launches his VDT summer range
On Saturday I had the pleasure of witnessing some backstage action at David Tlale and LEGiT’s latest VDT summer launch at Parow Centre as well as organising some of the beautiful models who were chosen to showcase David Tlale’s newest spectacular clothing available at all LEGiT stores.
All the girls had individual looks styled by Raazieyah Sieed and make up by Yumna Stegman
Backstage the girls chilled and got to know one another.
Beautiful Metallics and Op Art designs are all the rage in the VDT range with a hint of 1920s Flapper influence
As the girls line up ready to show off their styled outfits MC Cece Ravela pumped out the crowd with her bubbly personality and of course LEGiT giveaways.
Dj Lloyd ripped the decks as the girls modeled their fierce outfits.
Whitney shopping up a storm!
The models rubbing shoulders with Mr Tlale
Melissa with the man of the hour!

Daniel Bedingfield Rocks Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens
Dressed in a kilt Daniel’s energy was intoxicating, enticing the crowd to jump up and dance to his reggae infused classics as well as doing a cover of John Mayer’s I don’t trust myself with loving you. Kirstenbosch Sunset concerts are a definite must this summer. Pack your picnic bag, get some wine and have fun with your special person or jam with your friends.

How to get your body ready for Summer?
I’m sure a lot of people including myself are tired of the articles in magazines and videos all over the internet where everyone promises the audience ‘quicker’ ways of losing weight, from diet pills to these food recipes that a lot of people cannot even eat, never mind eat for a whole week.
I am a 22 year old UCT student and I have heard it all that is why I decided to take things into my own hands. Before 2009 I never exercised, I was just not motivated to, but after the endless moralities of the member of my family due to ill health and ‘bad’ eating habits I decided I was not going to be next. I was too young.
If you are thinking of getting into exercise or you have just started, I would advise you think of something that will be your constant motivator to wake up and exercise. Many of us are motivated by getting a body of some model, looking good for your boyfriend . The only problem with the things I have mentioned is that none of them are constant, what happens if you break up with your boyfriend when summer ends or when you do not get a body of a model? Staying healthy should be your biggest priority in that way you will do your best to stay healthy that you won’t even notice that you starting to look like “Jessica Biel” ;)
Write up a plan of goals you intend to reach in a certain time period, but remember to be realistic!
Once you have done that I would advise you to start working out at the gym, this could be intimidating at first but working out around many people may motivate you to work harder, you might even find exercise buddies.
Also write up a plan of the exercises or goals you want to have achieved by the time you leave the gym. For example if you are trying to lose some weight, you might want to focus on things that involve a lot of cardio such as the treadmill, aerobics classes, a step and running.
For those of you that have lost weight or just want to tone their bodies I would advise you to be friends with what I call ‘the guys side’ (weights section), I call this the guy’s section because ladies hardly use that side.
Imagine you have your ideal body weight but your skin is sagging, or you have a lot of cellulite then what is the point of it all? The obvious benefit of toning is achieving a lean, attractive body, but there are other benefits beyond the obvious click here for more info. With muscle toning comes a reduction of body fat and weight; this benefits the heart, the joints and the skeletal system. The things you would want to do when toning entail planking, using weights/ dumb bells, a medicine ball, elastic band and a step.
Cardio: using a treadmill at the gym depending on what pace you want to go at. I would advise that you start walking on the treadmill and then make the belt steeper so that it gets your heart going, after that you can decrease the steepness of the treadmill and increase the speed to about 9.0 km/h if you feel ready for it. Do this for 20 minutes every time you use the treadmill.
Benefits of cardio exercises: Regular cardio activity can lower cholesterol and blood pressure while reducing your risk of developing conditions such as Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, obesity and some cancers. Walking, jogging and other weight-bearing exercises build up bone strength, reducing your risk of osteoporosis.
Attending aerobics classes
Every gym has this, may it be a yoga class, a Zumba class or good old aerobics, and they are all there to help you lose some weight or stay in shape. Attend one of these at least once a week. The great thing about these classes is that you have a trained person in front of you teaching you and do not be afraid to ask the trainers questions. Another good thing about joining a class is that you will probably have fun with other people than just by yourself, so get going!
Using the step
The step is good in two things: firstly helping you tone, secondly, for burning a lot of fat from cardio exercises.
For cardio: use your feet to tap the edges of the step. Do these 4 times going around the step, making 8 taps on each side. This should get your heart rate going and your calves burning.
You can start off by walking, if you are going somewhere and you are able to walk, give your car a break and give your legs a good workout. You could take a walk with friends or family and make it a ‘fun’ thing that you love doing together.
A run/jog would be much better as well, it helps burn calories quicker and helps increase your metabolism.
Toning/ tightening your skin
Lifting weights: use two weights that are the same weight to tone your arms, to do this you curl your arms with the weights in your hands, make sure to keep your arms tight, and do not drop it or else you will hurt yourself. Whatever you decide to do on one arm, do with the other as well.
Elastic band: the elastic band has the same effect as weights except that it does not have weight. One way of using the band is by pressing the middle of the band with your feet, you then pull the ends of the band with your hands, this helps tighten the skin your arms and legs. It can also help you increase you flexibility by lying on your back and pulling both of your legs up with it.
Planking: this is very good for your thighs and abdomen. You can side plank and front plank for at least one minute, once you get used to it, increase the time to about 7 minutes.
Yes I have mentioned all these things, but I have left the best for last :)
Push ups: do 8 reps, twice and when you feel stronger repeat for about 5 times
Sit ups: do the same, 8 reps twice and do more when you feel stronger, this is amazing for those trying to lose tummy fat to get abs.
Have fun, work hard but love yourself!
